An avid teacher, Dr. Slocum has maintained a private studio since 1989, teaching jazz, classical and electric bass. While completing her D.M.A. at the State University of New York at Stony Brook she held a Teaching Assistantship and taught the undergraduate double bass class. She has served as an adjunct teacher at the Juilliard School Music Advancement Program and at M.S. 54 in New York. Dr. Slocum has conducted clinics at the University of Connecticut, University of Rochester, Berklee College, Brooklyn College, Queens College, Columbia University, S.U.N.Y. Purchase, S.U.N.Y. Binghamton, Youngstown State University and the City College of New York. She has given Master Classes in Spain, Portugal, Switzerland and Germany. She has coached and conducted ensembles at New York University, S.U.N.Y. at Stony Brook, The New School, Mannes College of Music and the City College of New York.
